A pair of earrings with highly detailed designs, inspired from traditional wirework pieces worn as part of traditional Trachten from the Black Forest region of Germany.

Witches and work: this is what Melbourne-born Ru-yenn Kwok’s collection is about. The designer started the project by making a uniform for the modern working woman until she realised the problematic nature of equating the image of professionalism with the notion of labour. Looking at how working women were persecuted as Witches by the 16th-century primitive accumulation process, Kwok started thinking about female autonomy in relation to capitalist structures at large. “For me, the Witch symbolises a myriad of female-centric labourers; she is a healer, a whore, a midwife, a nurse, a seer…” Kwok explains.

 

 

 

Production

Made-to-order works are produced in studio and usually take 3 to 8 weeks before shipping, depending on scheduling, material, casting, finishing and hallmarking requirements. Rush timelines may be available by request for an additional fee. Please contact the studio for current timings.

Materials & Care

Works are made in the material specified on each product page. Recycled metals are used where available, with casting carried out by a specialist London foundry. Precious metal works are hallmarked under REBEKAH KOSONEN BIDE by the Goldsmiths’ Company Assay Office where required.

Keep dry and handle with care. Avoid contact with perfume, lotions, hairspray, swimming pools and shower water. Remove before sleeping, exercising or any activity that may scratch, knock or damage the piece. Gently wipe with a soft cloth after wear and store securely.

Do not ultrasonic clean. Earrings made with .925 silver or gold posts may be soft and should be handled delicately.

Custom Material & Stones

Alternative metals, plating and stone setting may be available by request and quoted individually. This can include platinum, palladium, white gold, rhodium plating, solid gold, or specific stone-setting requirements.

Gems, pearls and organic materials are sourced with origin and supply-chain information where available. No CITES-listed species are used.

UK VAT is deducted automatically at checkout for international orders. Local duties and taxes are customer's responsibility.
